Members of the Senate and National Assembly for the 2022 Legislative Year, continue providing more concrete blocks to the process of Nation Building in their June session of Parliament.
Several pertinent issues were raised during Tuesdays sitting, one of which is the recent food crisis in the country and malnutrition which is still a public health problem.
According to statistics from the Food and Agricultural Organization, 55% of Cameroonians live in poverty, 37.7% are impoverished 29% of children below the age of 5 are stunted, while food insecurity continues to be a major preoccupation.
The members of parliament aware of the plight that Cameroonians go through proposed some solutions, one of which is the establishment of the Parliamentary Alliance for Food and Nutritional Safety. The alliance which regroups senators and members of the national assembly, has as objective providing concrete solutions to the recent food crisis faced by Cameroonians.
The alliance made up of 15 strong bureau, led by House Speaker and president of the Senate, will prioritize the eradication and prevention of hunger and poverty in all its forms.
