Tragedy struck the small community of Nanga- Eboko in Cameroon as a man accused of killing six members of the same family reportedly took his own life. Mahaman Laouli, a 32-year-old Nigerian, was the prime suspect in the brutal murder of Vanessa Youbi Kamga, aged 31, and her three children, younger sister, and niece. According to police sources, Laouli was Vanessa’s ex-husband, and the couple had been embroiled in a dispute over property following their divorce.
Investigations revealed that Laouli entered the family home through the roof and carried out the killings. Vanessa’s aunt, Odette Nguekam, revealed that Laouli had threatened to kill Vanessa if she did not let go of the disputed property. The community was left in shock as news of the killings spread, and police immediately launched an investigation.
Laouli was detained alongside other suspects at the Regional Judicial Police Division of the Centre Region. However, reports suggest that he strangled himself to death while in custody. The incident has left the community reeling as they come to terms with the tragedy and try to understand the motive behind the horrific crime.
