30 Senators (three from each region) have been appointed by President Paul BIYA, as stipulated by Cameroon’s Constitution and Section 215 (3) of the Electoral Code. They will join the others who were elected during the Senatorial Elections recently.
The most remarkable is the come back of Marcel Niat Njifenji, the current president of the Senate,elected as Senator of the west Region alongside Chatue’ Emmanuel CEO of CANAL 2 International Television and Mbombo Njoya Seidou former president of Fecafoot and CAF’s 4th Vice President.
The North West Region was not left out as it witnessed the election of 3 senators,80-year-old Regina Bih Mundi,kidnapped on the 30th of April by separatist and rescued some months later after being tortured and detained. Fon Chafah Isaac the fon of Bangolan,enthroned since 1982 was not left out.The social Democratic Front was included in President Paul Biya’s list, Vanigansen Mochiggle who was elected into the Senate in 2018 has his name on the list.
