FECAFOOT (Cameroon Football Federation) strongly denies claims of receiving from the Specialized Payer to the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education (MINSEP) a state grants of 560 million FCFA and disclaims instructions prescribing the payment of a subsidy of 550 million FCFA for its benefit.
A Press Release from FECAFOOT signed by the Secretary general of the said body today 1st of July 2022 Illuminates Public Opinion surrounding the Payment of the sum of 350 million FCFA and 560/550 million FCFA by the state of Cameron to the said body, following the note from the Specialized Payer to the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education addressed on June 28, 2022 to the Minister of Finance stipulating a partial Payment of the sum of 550 million FCFA to the Accounting Officer of FECAFOOT between April 18 and 27, 2022.
According to Fecafoot, the state of Cameroon has decided to support her as part of her project to revive Cameroonian football and consequently through two correspondences ordered the release of the sum of 350 million FCFA (correspondence No. B70101-32/5G/PM of April 13, 2022) and 560 million FCFA (No. B2153/5G/PR of March 22, 2022) respectively.
The First Grant was destined for the MTN Elite One and Two professional championships for the 2021-2022 season. Immediately seized by the Secretary General of the Prime Minister’s Services, the Minister of Finance promptly carried out the necessary diligence and, in the process, the Specialized Pay Office at the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education made this money available to the Accounting Officer.
On the other hand, the second grants of 560 million FCFA (2nd Correspondence) which the Minister of State, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic instructed the Minister of Sports and Physical Education to make available to FECAFOOT intended for professional clubs have not yet been carried out to date, despite multiple reminders from FECAFOOT.
