Persons with disability in Cameroon, are often faced with many challenges in their daily endeavors. The challenges are a result of a lack of inclusive policies, leading to their exemption from social and economic activities such as Education, Employment and healthcare. The Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute therefore signed an arrete’ granting persons with disability five years age extension for public exams.
This has come as a sigh of relief to many disabled persons, though the Prime Ministerial grant clearly states some terms that disabled persons have to follow to benefit.
Amongst others, the application file of the candidate must clearly state the person’s condition. They must be holders of a disability card and undergone a professional training in any university of their choice. It equally states that once the physically challenge has succeeded in the age limit exemption and public exams, he will be recruited based on his capability in handling a particular job.
Physically challenged persons will equally be recruited based on the list of trade available for handicapped persons, established by the ministry of Social Affairs.
This move by the Government is one of the several measures they have put in place to improve on the plight of persons with disability.
