Some primary pupils and students in some schools in Nwa Subdivision will soon boost up their reading skills as they will have access to read books they were not able to acquire. This is thanks to Mr. Roma Mamngong a teacher, who has taken upon himself to open libraries in some of the schools in the subdivision.
The son of the late Rev Mamngong has opened up 5 mini libraries in 5 primary and secondary schools ( GS & CBC Mbem, GBPS Nwa,GS Shie & GHS Sabongari )
After haven distributed more than 2000 texts books to pupils and students in the area last year in order to encourage them go back to school, the teacher who teaches in the Government School Shie, has now decided to open up libraries that will help the learners study well and in good conditions.
“Though it has always been my dream to do this for my younger ones back home, the Anglophone crisis which has affected the school going people, discouraging them from education, has pushed me to yield to my dream. So I have decided to create these libraries as a realisation of my long time dream, he stated.
In these libraries, I have created and filled them with more than 1446 books of different kinds.
The learners will be able to have books like work books, ICT(Information and Communication Technology) books, History, Geography, Literature text books etc.
“What really prompted me carry out this project is because of the inaccessible nature of the area, most school going pupils and students are not able to have some of these texts books and as a result of this, they face challenges in official Examinations such as FSLC, the Common Entrance, the GCE and others”, the teacher added.
According to the philanthropist, the gesture is expected to be carried out in almost all of the schools within the subdivision.
Speaking to the press, Teacher Roma seized the opportunity to thank Mr Sob Conilous and Mr Andrew Nyenty of EISERVI for their support, which has helped him achieve his objective.
