The President of the Far North Regional Council and his closest collaborators on Thursday, September 15, 2022, all converged at the Yaounde Mont Febe Hotel to officially launched the Far North Business Week.
The colorful and highly attended ceremony was marked by the presence of officials from the Ministry of Local Development and Decentralization, members of government, elites, members of the diplomatic corps and business men.
The Far North Business Week, is expected to kick -off from November 9 to 19th in Maroua. The overall objective for convening such an event for the region is reviving the economy of the North region affected by the problem of insecurity linked to Boko Haram, COVID-19 and climate change.
According to The Far North Regional President, Kalbassou Daniel, the second phase of the launching of this project will be deployed in the nation’s economic capital Douala in the weeks ahead, followed by other major towns, in order to spread awareness of the forth coming gigantic economic Forum in the month of November.
This was after he echoed that, the choice of Yaounde and not Maroua for the holding of the launching ceremony, was due to the fact that, it is the heart of administrative, diplomatic representations, company heads and a host to majority of the region’s elites.
The ten days event that will bring together the five million inhabitants of the Far North region, will equally see the participation of a delegation from Chad, Nigeria, Sudan and the Central African Republic.
The major highlights of the pioneer edition of the Far North Business Week, will consist of laying emphasis on the following aspects making the peculiarity of the region;
- To publicize the Special Reconstruction Program of the Far North decided by the Head of State;
- To exhibit the agro-pastoral potential of the region;
- Encourage members of the elite and the external partners to invest in the region;
- Emphasize youth and women’s projects as part of their empowerment and import substitution;
- Promote social cohesion through culture and sport;
- Raise awareness of the population on the mission of local development that the President of the Republic has entrusted to the Regional and Local authorities.
- To give confidence to the youth and encourage them to take charge of their development.
- The Activities of the economic forum will also include
- Conference, debates, on topics such as ICTs, Renewable energy, Tourism and Leisure, Urban and interurban transport, Agro-pastoral production, it’s modernization and transformation.
- Exhibition Sales marked by B-to-B encounters
- Cultural activities aimed at promoting social cohesion and living together. And the
- Selection of social cohesion.
