The Cameroon football federation has been in shock following the resignation of the Secretary General, Benjamin Didier, in a letter to Samuel eto’o. He said His resignation is due to the fact that Cameroon football is not on the right tract, and he is not willing to dance to the rhythm of the president. His letter reads
“Cameroonian football will only regain its greatness if great men who carry great ideas act with greatness in an environment that allows elevation and progress in other words achievement of great purposes.
He further criticized the leadership of the new president adding that his style will not promote the development of fecafoot and accused the management for bad governance.
“The rate of play of our management and our governance leads me to doubt it strongly from successive events and the various facts which multiply. The news we see there is no doubt that Cameroon football federation FECAFOOT is not in phase with the project that brought Samuel eto’o.
He got the position of interim following an emergency committee meeting, held via video conference on dec 27 2021. Before being appointed in the new Samuel eto’o era, he officially served as secretary general of the federation during seidou Mbombo njoya’s
Era on January 2019.
During njoya’s era, he was relieved from his function in august 2021 due to an alleged misunderstanding and Parfait Nicolas was appointed acting secretary general.
Note, he was equally suspended during Samuel eto’o era, on April 2022, due to financial mis-management, corruption and fecafoot president forbid him to order the release of money from the accounts of fecafoot.
His mission as secretary general
- Participation in the general assembly as well as in the sessions of the executive committee, emergency committee, the permanent and adhoc commissions and the jurisdictional bodies with consultative voice;
- Drawing up the minutes of the general assembly , the executive committee and the emergency committee;
- Controlling the management of fecafoot’s assets and the proper keeping of accounts by the administrative and financial director;
- The management of all fecafoot’s correspondence;
- Maintain relations with members, jurisdictional bodies, commissions, FIFA, CAF, UNIFFAC, CNOSC AND other federations
- The organization of the general secretariat; the proposal for hiring and dismissal of non-executive staff of the general secretariat to the president of fecafoot;
- The administration and management of national competitions, with the exception of those organized by specialized leagues and the professional football league in Cameroon; participation in the administration of international competitions in collaborations with the competent bodies.
