The Non-governmental organization name Green Think and the Mbalmayo Council have engaged in the construction of learning facilities with the usage of recycled plastic bottles, compacted with a mixture of soul and sand.
The finishing works, however, has made use of classic building materials. The newly constructed class rooms are 50% less cheap than its normal cost if it were to be constructed with cement blocks.
The objective of such a gigantic and laudable project for the locality of Mbalmayo, is aimed at reducing the rate of environmental pollution, especially in a context dominated by global warming and other atmospheric hazards.
The project coordinator had the following declarations during the inaugural phase.
“This project came about because, we are first of all a non-governmental organization preoccupied with the issue of plastic pollution in our cities and localities.”
“We have been organizing sensitization, and advocacy campaigns as well as having clean up sessions in the different regions and countries abroad. “
“We thought of what to do with the plastic bottles collected, and the building of biodegradable structures was highly appreciated by our leaders, after the wonderful collaboration with the NGO No Plastic Drinks and Ecotek, who gave us a rigid training on the domain. ” He added
“The locality of Mbalmayo, is the pioneer host of such magnificent architecture in Cameroon, we intend to extend the project to other localities whose people are in need of low cost in infrastructures ready to change lives. We say thanks to the Mayor of Mbalmayo, the volunteers and the entire community as a whole they were wonderful”. Ahmed Moumine echoed.
