As per reports from the ground following a deadly attack on Saturday in Ballin Village near the border between Cameroon and Nigeria in Akwaya District, at least 26 villagers have been killed, some persons have been reported missing and the village’s Integrated Health Centre has been burnt down.
The Akwaya district medical officer, Enow Daniel Kewong, told Reuters 26 bodies had been found so far and people were still missing after Saturday’s attack on Ballin village, near the border with Nigeria. He added that the village’s Integrated Health Centre had been burnt down.
Some Local Sources have attributed the cause of this attack to a long existing Land Dispute that had been existing between Ballin’s Ugare ethnic group and the Olitis from the nearby village of Mavass. Adding to this the Support of the Olitis by the separatist Fighters who decided to Join Forces with the Olitis ethnic group.
As per a source who confined to Reuters, The attackers stormed a home where a wake was taking place and shot indiscriminately at the mourners.
