Visitors will no longer be able to access the Patriot Monument free of charge, as price tags has been levied before anyone can view the site. To the Yaoundé City Council, this price tag will go a long way to limit the number of visitors accessing the site.
According to the Price tag, children aged between 0 to 14 years will now pay a sum of 200frs for just 30 minutes. Adults from 15years pay a sum of 500francs, and families with 10 persons will pay 3500francs for 30 minutes.
School students who may want to view the Monument have been levied an amount. 10 to 20 students will pay a sum of 5000francs, if the students are between 20 to 50, they will have to disburse 10000 francs and 15000 will be paid if they are over 50 in number.
Those who will want to take weeding pictures around the Monument, shoot video clips or movies will pay from 15000francs for 30 to 45 minutes.
Since the document was released by the communication unit of the Yaoundé City Council, many inhabitants have been asking questions like, why is one expected to pay a particular sum of money before he can access touristic sites in Cameroon? Will an average Cameroonian or student be able to pay that particular sum of money before he can savor the beauty around the Monument?
According to the Yaoundé City Council, the amount will be used to maintain and Monument.
Since it was constructed, visitors have been flooding into the country to view the site. The price tag established by the said council will help limit the number of persons who go there on a daily basis.
